Why streamers drop PayPal

• Country coverage. PayPal payouts are limited or absent in many countries where streaming is growing fastest.
• Account freezes. Sudden limitation reviews can lock weeks of donation income with little recourse.
• Chargebacks. PayPal disputes on "gift" payments are a known griefing vector against streamers; a donated $50 can be clawed back months later, plus a dispute fee.
• Address exposure. Classic PayPal.me setups can reveal legal names, and in some flows addresses, to strangers.

What to use instead

A card-based tip page. Supporters pay with a card or local payment method, the page processes the charge, and you withdraw to your bank. On Ouish, tips work in 18 currencies including NGN through Paystack, supporters cover the processing fee on top of their tip, and your page shows your handle rather than your legal identity. CashApp and Venmo get suggested in forums, and they do work for a US-only audience, but they are person-to-person apps: no tip presets, no alerts, no supporter messages, no multi-currency, and your $cashtag is another identity to manage. They make sense as a backup option, not the main door.

The chargeback angle, honestly

No payment method is chargeback-proof; card networks allow disputes too. The practical difference is exposure. Keeping donations off a person-to-person wallet, with a processor sitting between the supporter and you, means disputes follow a defined evidence process instead of a wallet freeze, and your other income is not hostage to one dispute. Streamers who have been through a PayPal limitation tend not to go back.
